Description: DIT allow academic staff to install non-standard software or hardware on their computers under certain conditions.
Details: Academic staff (and some support staff) are able to install non-standard software or hardware on their computers by using Installer Rights. Installer Rights is a 'permission' that allows staff the necessary permissions to modify their system Access and is available via the completion of an online web form. Academic staff have access to this online form by default. Administrative staff that require Installer Rights need to contact the Service Desk during business hours.

Service Includes: The computer is permitted to install the software or hardware but this is fully the responsibility of the staff member
Service does not Include: Assistance to install, support for associated problems related to the install, training in the use of the application. Any catastrophic problem will require DIT only to re-install the Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and return the computer to it's original 'pre' delivered configuration.
